Bakht Cheema, MD specializes in managing complex gastrointestinal and liver disorders, with extensive experience delivering compassionate care for challenging cases.

Dr. Cheema earned his MD in 2010 and completed Internal Medicine residency at UT-Austin, serving an additional year as Chief Resident. Before specializing in gastroenterology, he gained valuable experience managing inpatient cases at hospitals across Texas and California. To further his expertise, Dr. Cheema pursued a Transplant Hepatology fellowship at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, where he managed a diverse range of complex liver disease cases. He then completed his Gastroenterology & Hepatology fellowship at UF Health – Jacksonville, serving as Chief Fellow during his training. There, he also acquired advanced skills in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and now performs EUS procedures at multiple facilities.

Dr. Bakht Cheema holds active staff privileges at Ascension, Baptist, and HCA hospitals and sees patients at two office locations. He is a member of several leading professional organizations, including the AGA, AASLD, ASGE and ACG. Committed to lifelong learning, he stays abreast of the latest advancements in gastroenterology and hepatology.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Cheema enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, staying active, and traveling. He is also a dedicated volunteer at a local charity clinic and follows cricket closely.
